Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, The Queen Mother

Mother of the Nation, and an everlasting source of inspiration for the Thai people 🕊️

Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, The Queen Mother, was born on 12 August 1932 in Bangkok. Later, she became the Queen Consort alongside His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great (Rama IX) and was subsequently conferred the revered title “The Queen Mother of the Nation,” honoring her as the mother of Thailand.

Her Majesty received an education both in Thailand and abroad, studying in England, France, and Switzerland. During this period, she met His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, and they were married on 28 April 1950 , shortly before the Royal Coronation on 5 May of the same year.

As the mother of the nation, Her Majesty undertook numerous significant royal duties. She dedicated herself to the preservation and promotion of Thai arts and culture, particularly "Thai silk" which she championed as a national symbol on the international stage. Through collaboration with French designers, she helped create elegant works that brought worldwide recognition to Thai silk.

Moreover, Her Majesty held a profound vision for improving the lives of her people, especially those in remote rural areas. She personally visited communities across the country, listening to their needs and concerns. She also established numerous foundations and royal projects aimed at raising the quality of life for Thai citizens.

Her birthday, 12 August, has been designated as "Mother’s Day" in Thailand, honoring her as "The mother of all Thai people" and providing an opportunity for the nation to express gratitude to mothers everywhere.

Through her boundless compassion, Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, The Queen Mother, has been deeply beloved by all Thais. She has inspired generations to live with selflessness, kindness, and pride in their Thai identity.

Her legacy will remain forever in the hearts of the Thai people.
