MBTS
MBTS
MBTS is a widely used accelerator in the rubber industry, particularly favored for formulations that require stable vulcanization and reduced risk of pre-vulcanization or scorching, which can compromise the quality of the final rubber product.
MBTS is a pale yellow powder, odorless, non-toxic, and suitable for both natural and synthetic rubbers. It disperses easily, reacts safely, and is considered a suitable choice for rubber compounds that aim to minimize environmental impact during production.
Physical Characteristics:
- Color: Pale yellow powder
- Odor and taste: Non-toxic but has a bitter taste
- Stability: Stable when stored in dry and cool conditions
Solubility:
- Soluble in: Chloroform
- Partially soluble in: Benzene, ethanol, carbon tetrachloride
- Insoluble in: Water, gasoline, ethyl alcohol
Usage Recommendation:
To prevent pre-vulcanization, it is recommended to use MBTS in combination with Retarder PX, AK, or SAFE for increased safety and flexibility in processing.
Product Features:
- Compatible with both white and colored rubber without causing scorch marks
- Helps reduce pollution in the production process
- Acts as an antioxidant, delaying rubber degradation
- Mild reactivity, suitable for general rubber formulations
Industrial Applications:
- Automotive tires and inner tubes
- Footwear manufacturing
- General molded rubber products
- Not recommended for food-contact rubber products due to its bitter taste
